The RAAB (Rally
Alto Appennino Bolognese) came to life in 1976, thanks to the will and
enthusiasm of the Cassarini brothers, that in the same year also
founded the "Scuderia Palazzina" rally club. The competition
was held at night, as was the custom then, and interested various
shires of the Bologna Apennine area. It was a success from the
organizational point of view as well as public participation, as
testified by Autosprint magazine of that year. At Castiglione the
passion for rallies was born in that period. The RAAB was part of the
National Rally Trophy and of the Triveneto Championship and so the
participation of crews from veneto was very strong, (let's remember
that in Italy the Triveneto region was the area where rallying was
more popular). From 1976 to 1979 it continuously grew, the contest
reached the number of 226 cars enrolled, with many names that became
also great champions, for example Miki Biasion and Attilio Bettega.
